Week 5: Module 3: The Scientific Method
Welcome to Week 5 where we will begin Module 3 on the Scientific Method.
What is the Scientific Method? Together we will explore the steps and cycles of scientific inquiry!
We will read and analyze an article to think critically about the process of science and its complexities. This unit is a great time to practice TIME MANAGEMENT. Be sure to look over all assignments listed on Moodle for Module 3 and design a time management plan that works for you and your schedule to complete all assignments in the next two weeks. Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:
- MO 3.1. List the steps and interconnections in the scientific method. (CO 6)
- MO 3.2. Compare and contrast the depictions of the scientific method. (CO 6)
- MO 3.3. Create a simplified hypothesis and an experiment to test it. (CO 6)
THURSDAY’S CLASS WILL BE HYBRID- both in-person and Zoom attendance options!
We would like to offer the opportunity for those who are willing to attend in person, to come to visit us in Jordan Hall 6117 for this Thursday’s synchronous session (2/10 10:15-11:30 am). We will have the opportunity to meet and learn about cases and design projects. Please come wearing your own face mask, and we will give out high-quality masks N95/KN95 for you to wear as part of our COVID safety protocols. We will also have a Zoom feed for those of you who can attend virtually.
On Thursday, we have a guest: Dr. Adam Simon, one of the Electronic Graveyard case study authors we did in Module 1! Adam is in North Carolina and will be visiting the Biotechnology Program on Thursday, February 10th. We will have an opportunity to ask questions about the case study and trips to Ghana with students- so please come prepared with questions to ask him!
